DESIGN PROCESS

Satisfaction guaranteed!  I work closely with all my clients to make sure that I deliver what they need.  Here’s how it works:

1.  Choose the package that best suits your needs and click on the corresponding “Get Started!” button.

 

2.  Fill out the form and describe in as much detail what you need for your website and how you want it to look.  I’ll thoroughly review your description and contact you if I have any further questions or concerns.

 

3.  Once we iron out all the details and reach a mutual understanding, we’re ready to go!  We’ll discuss your preferred payment method after which I’ll send you an invoice for 75% of the package cost.  Soon as the down payment has been received, we’ll register your domain.

 

4.  I’ll now start designing your website and show you a first draft online within 3-5 business days.

 

7.  You’ll probably want some revisions so I’ll revise the design based on your comments.  Please be as thorough with your comments as possible since only a specified number of comprehensive revisions is included in each package.  Exceeding that amount can incur an additional cost of USD 35 per hour of additional design work.

 

8.  Once we’ve finalized the design, I’ll populate the allocated number of pages with content.  I’ll then show it to you for the “big reveal” and final comments.

 

9.  After a final round of fine tuning, I’ll create the allocated number of email accounts then send you an invoice for the remaining balance.

 

10.  Once final payment has been received, I’ll email you all the pertinent documentation:

3.  Once we iron out all the details and reach a mutual understanding, we’re ready to go!  We’ll discuss your preferred payment method after which I’ll send you an invoice for 75% of the package cost.

 

4.  Soon as the down payment has been received, I’ll start creating your logo and present around half the allocated number of concepts within 3-5 business days.  If you don’t like any of the initial concepts and would like to see more, I’ll design the remaining concepts based on your feedback.

 

5.  Once we’ve nailed the concept, we can begin the revision process based on your comments.  I’ll then show it to you for the “big reveal” and a final round of fine tuning.

 

6.  Once the logo has been finalized, I can start designing the business card and marketing collateral (for Unagi and Toro Packages).  The same design process as the logo will be followed.  For Toro packages, please refer to the Website Design Process to see how it works.

 

7.  After all designs have received final approval, I’ll send you an invoice for the remaining balance.

 

8.  Once final payment has been received, you’ll be directed to a password protected page from which you can download the high-res files in all the specified formats.

 

9.  And there you have it!  A carefully crafted logo that’s memorable, effective and relevant to your business.  Satisfaction guaranteed!

2.  Which plan is ideal for me?

To give you an idea of how much space you'll need, let's assume that all you'll be adding to the website are digital photographs.  Every photo is 8" x 6" and optimized at 72 dpi so each has a file size of around 50-100k.  You'll be able to fit the following number of images per hosting plan:


MAKI - around 5,000-7,500

NIGIRI - around 10,000-15,000

TEMAKI - around 50,000-75,000

 

As for bandwidth, most personal or small business sites won't need more than 1 GB of bandwidth per month, so you can rest assured that the generous amount allocated to each hosting plan is plenty.

 

3.  Are there any hidden fees?

Absolutely not!  There are no hidden fees and you’re free to cancel your web hosting at any time without cancellation fees.

5.  I want to sell products online.  How do I do that?

All our hosting subscribers have FREE access to these powerful shopping cart programs - osCommerce, Zen Cart, Cube Cart.

You’ll need an SSL to process credit cards so we’ll provide you with a FREE Shared SSL.  For our NIGIRI and TEMAKI plan subscribers, you’ll also have the option of requesting for a Private SSL and Dedicated IP for an additional USD 200/yr.

You’ll also need a merchant account with a payment gateway.  Please CONTACT ME for a FREE consultation in determining which payment processing method is right for your business.

 

6.  Do you offer 24x7 technical support?

Yes.  Well, sort of.  Host Gator does provide 24x7 tech support but you'll have to course your concerns through me.  Anyone who has worked with me though will tell you that I'm reliable, that I work fast and address all questions and requests on the spot.  You can post any tech support related issues on my blog via the TECH SUPPORT link on the side menu of this website and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.

 

7.  Can I upgrade my hosting plan at any time?

Yes.  If you’ve already paid for a year of hosting, the existing balance on your account will be credited towards the upgrade.

 

8.  Will there be any banners or pop-up ads on my site?

Absolutely not!  Your website will be entirely ad-free.

 

9. Can I register a domain name with a suffix other than .com, .net, or. org?

Yes, but it will probably be more expensive.  Please CONTACT ME for a FREE quotation.

 

10. Why don't you have an automated system in place to sell your web hosting plans?

Aside from providing quality web hosting to my existing clients, I decided to become a web hosting reseller so that I could include it as part of an all-in-one package deal - design + web hosting + domain name registration.  I don't really anticipate getting a lot of "walk-in" web hosting customers (at least at the beginning) so can't justify the cost of setting up a payment gateway/merchant account.  If there's a demand for it though, I may set it up in the future.

 

11.  What if I’m not satisfied with your service?

1.  Which package is right for me?

All my packages involve redesigning and manipulating the chosen template so the resulting website is unique.  Each comes with some form of Content Management System so they will be easy to update post turnover.  (Except Flash templates.  You'll need knowledge of the Flash program to update your website post turnover.)

2.  Do we need to set up a meeting before we can begin?

In the majority of cases I’d say that a meeting isn't necessary and around 95% of my clients’ projects are completed via email and telephone contact only.  In fact, most of my clients aren’t local so all aspects of the project – from setting up your account to presenting the designs for comment to payment - is done through the internet. The whole process is fast, convenient and very safe.

 

3.  Are there any hidden fees?

Absolutely not!  The price quoted on each package description is what you will pay.

 

4.  How long does the entire process take?

Depending on the website’s complexity, the client’s availability and their number of revisions, the entire process can take anywhere from as little as 2 weeks to several months.  Initial designs will be submitted within the time frame specified under the Website Design Process.

 

5.  What’s a CMS and what can it do for me?

A CMS, or content management system, is a web application designed to make it easy for non-technical users to add, edit and manage a website.  Not only will it enable you to easily edit content, you’ll be able to enrich your website with a variety of extensions such as a newsletter subscription feature, a forum, an events calendar, social bookmarking plugins, and many, many others – all with a click of a mouse.

 

6.  I love the Flash-enhanced templates but I’m not familiar with the Flash program.  How do I maintain it after turnover?

Unfortunately, you need to be familiar with the Flash program in order to manipulate a Flash-enhanced template.  If you plan on doing frequent updates, I suggest using a CMS-based template instead.  Or if you wish, I can do Flash updates for you at USD 35/hour.

 

7.  I want to set up an online shop.  What is a payment gateway and merchant account?

A payment gateway is an online system that allows for the secure transfer of credit card funds from users on your website to your merchant account.  A merchant account is a bank account that allows for the receipt of these credit card funds.  You’ll need both when selling your products online, though most online merchant accounts come complete with a payment gateway.

8.  What’s the difference between Shared SSL and Private SSL?

SSL encrypts confidential data such as credit card numbers and passwords and is required when taking credit cards off your site.  Private SSL, unlike shared SSL, is your own privately-owned SSL.  It looks more professional and thus elicits a stronger sense of trust and confidence from your customers.

Private SSL certificates require a dedicated IP address at USD 36/year. We can install a private SSL certificate you may already have for a USD 15 installation fee. You can purchase a private SSL CRT from us for USD 164/year including installation.

 

9.  Will my website be search engine friendly?

Yes.  Certain plugins and extensions included in each package are specifically designed to optimize your site for the web and make it more search engine friendly.  Your website will be submitted to the top search engines and will also be fitted with the Google Analytics tracker code to help you analyze your web traffic.

 

10.  What if I already have an existing domain?

No problem!  If your domain isn’t up for renewal, you can just contact your registrar and have them point your domain to our name servers.  If it will expire soon, you may transfer and renew it at no extra cost since FREE registration or transfer is included in each of our Total Web Solutions Packages.

 

11.  What if I already have an existing website and only wish to improve it?

12.  What happens after my 1 year of free hosting and domain registration expires?

Before they expire, you’ll receive renewal notices via email that will give you the option of renewing them at retail prices.

 

13.  What type of after sales support do you offer?

I’m always willing to give free advice, so as long your website is hosted with me, I’ll be happy to help you with any questions or concerns.  Please keep in mind though that if you request any design or maintenance work post turnover, it will be subject to a design fee of USD 35/hour.

 

14.  What if I’m not satisfied with your work?

Satisfaction guaranteed!  Your satisfaction is of the utmost importance to me so I’ll revise and refine your website until you are fully satisfied.  However, if you feel that I’m not capable of serving your needs, you may ask for a refund.  To ensure that I stay in business, a design fee of USD 250 will be retained for every layout submitted plus template, stock photography and other incurred costs.  If I haven’t started any portion of your project, I will give you a full refund.

Please note that the refund policy will NOT be available under the following circumstances:

 

1.  If you have already given approval or asked for a revision based on the initial customization of the template.

2.  If the party for whom the website is being designed closes, changes its name, or changes its activity.

3.  If the project was cancelled for reason(s) unrelated to the project undertaken with me.
